2 yr old Boxer renal failure

– 2 year old Boxer FS with history of azotemia diagnosed at the time of spay (about 6 months of age)

– presented with 5 day history of anorexia, BCS=1, severe azotemia, cPLI positive, anemia

– kidneys barely recognizable as kidneys on ultrasound-at least I think these structures are kidneys as normal ones could not be found

– possible abnormal right limb of the pancreas but even hard to tell this as the right kidney very bizzare looking in the region

– biopsy was declined due to very poor prognosis at this stage

Is this neoplasia? Some form of renal dysplasia?  A  form of polycystic renal disease?

    This is a combined primary renal dysplasia and secondary degenerative interstitial pattern. Hypertesnions, uti, acute phase disease and such usually sends them over the edge. boxers are the number one breed I see this in…. big time breeder in NJ still kicking these guys out.

    Lots of them in the sonopath search under renal dysplasia. tough to get a bx but I have done so on a post mortem US-guided bx a few times. Beautiful images.
