  1. Thanks for the reply. I

Thanks for the reply. I checked that video. Actually I had been following the video to scan the feline thyroid but it was not really getting as clear as it is in your video. I noticed that the gain settings in that video was set at 95. Do we need to use a higher gain setting to scan the thyroids?

  2. The gain varies patient to

The gain varies patient to patient and especially with the linear hi res probe the skin physics make a big differene. ensure no hair or anything on the skin, alcohol first then gel and complete probe contact. Then gain up as needed. The thyroids will be just slightly more echogenic than the carotid artery typically especially when pathologic.

  3. Thanks for the reply. I have

Thanks for the reply. I have scanned thyroid of a normal cat. I want to confirm if I am right or not. Can I upload the images/videos here?

    • I have converted the avi file

I have converted the avi file to gif to attach with the thread so the qualitty of the video has dropped slightly. I am considering this fusiform structure below the carotid as thyroid. If it is, how to make it prettier. I tired to change gain settings and played with different other image settings but could’t get a book-quality image

  4. yes looks like thyroid to me

yes looks like thyroid to me but when doing video clips the objective is to sweep the area with the organ of focus, in this case the thyroid lobe, is in the middle of the clip. That way you can see all the atructures adjacent to it.

  5. Also, very hard to make out

Also, very hard to make out between normal parathyroids and the blood vessels in the cross section. Till now, I am not sure If I have actually seen the parathyroids or they were blood vessels

  6. the second image is a still.

the second image is a still. as menitoned videos have to be put in the first post then only stills can be posted on any given thread,. unfortunately its a limiation to the system. On the first video i don’t see any parathyroids but those are very small and blend in in cat thyroids. You dont see them unless they are big and pathological such as very rare parathyroid adenomas in cats. Much more frequent in dogs.
