  1. If this is indeed pancreas,
If this is indeed pancreas, it seems most likely to be neoplasia to me. Is it acute onset of clinical signs or chronic progression? Is the cat cachexic? I would most certainly want to fine-needle biopsy this lesion.

  3. Marty, This pancreas was
Marty, This pancreas was sampled along with liver & spleen. Pancreas came back as pancreatitis. On recheck US x2, pancreas is smaller & cat is doing much better. No neoplasia found. Biggest cat pancreas I’ve ever seen.

  5. Nothing beats histoppath:)
Nothing beats histoppath:) Neoplastic criteria is just that…”criteria.” In my experience 8/10 times when i think its neoplasia based on the sonographic presentation it truly is …..but the other 2? I have seen this happen in the GI many many times where Pennincks criteria is met but neoplasia it is not. Works for other organs as well… problem is not every owner or client appreciates the value of a needle.

I have seen numerous K9 pancreas’ like this that I suspected neoplasia and FNB revealed pancreatitis and now I read those much better. But I too have never seen a pancreas like this one! Well done! I love histopath/cytology answers!
