Clinical Differential Diagnosis

Renal neoplasia, hydronephrosis, pyelonephritis, renal hematoma

DX

Multiple calculi in right ureter causing right-sided hydronephrosis and hydroureter

Sampling

None.

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Right kidney hydronephrosis with mild hydroureter. Multiple ureteral calculi obstruction.

Image Interpretation

The right kidney presented moderate hydronephrosis at 2.4cm x 1.7cm dilation with a 0.5cm right ureter dilation. Multiple calculi were obstructing the right ureter approximately 4cm distal to the right renal pelvis. The remainder of the ureter from the obstruction to the dorsal trigone was normal. Mild ureter contraction was noted.

Outcome

The patient was euthanized a week later.
