Ovarian Cysts/Hyperadrnocorticism

I have a client that has asked me to ultrasound her Guinea Pig.

Her previous veterinarian palpated an abdominal mass. This pig also has non pruritic alopecia.

I have not examined this little gal yet.

Few questions:

1. Has anyone seen cushings in the guinea pig? Any idea what normal size adrenals would be in this species? Would the adrenals be in the same location in the pig?

2. I know that ovarian cysts can cause alopeica. Does anyone have any ultrasound studies that they could post so that I could see what these cysts look like in the guinea pig.

Guinea pig ovarian cysts look just loike other ovarian cysts check the basic search under ovarian cysts

     http://sonopath.com/members/case-studies/search?text=ovarian+cysts&species=All

and I don’t have follow-up in this case but this fit pdh and yes they do get cushings and can be adrenal dependent or pdh

Here’s a quick pubmed search and an article from Dr. Gaschen on adrenal tumor

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9491516

FYI we have a lot of exotic sonogrpahic pathology in the raw archive just hasnt been processed into the search archive yet so even though ferrets and GP, rabbits and birds are in the basic search there are many many more to come but for now seacrh by species and you will see whats most common. My elves are about 600 cases behind that haven’t been uploaded and finalized lol.
