A 12-year-old MN Golden Retriever dog with history of arthritis currently on Previcox and Glucosamine, was presented for dyspnea. On physical examination the patient was laterally recumbent and the abdomen was tense on palpation. Radiographs showed a possible foreign body in the stomach.

Lymphoma, Liver and Spleen
History
Clinical Differential Diagnosis
GIT – torsion, obstruction (foreign body/neoplasia), intestinal perforation Peritonitis Liver – hepatitis, neoplasia
DX
FNAs of both the spleen and liver were consistent with lymphoma.
Sampling
US-guided FNA`s of both the liver and spleen revealed lymphoma.
Sonographic Differential Diagnosis
Aggressive infiltrative splenic and hepatic pattern. This is consistent with lymphoma or round cell neoplasia.
Image Interpretation
The liver and spleen in this patient presented diffuse, micronodular “honeycomb” type appearance with microcystic changes and multiple, small, enlarged target lesions. Fine-needle aspirates were performed. Periportal lymphadenopathy was also noted.
Outcome
The patient was treated with Benadryl, Dexamethasone SP, and Prednisone. The Madison Wisconsin protocol was recommended. The patient received one dose of Vincristine and was discharged with metronidazole and Pepcid but died at home 24 hours later.
