Protein losing nephropathy, glomerulonephritis, and uremic gastritis in a 3 year old MI Labrador Retriever
A 3-year-old male Labrador Retriever dog was presented for anorexia and weight loss. CBC was within normal limits, however blood chemistry showed hyperproteinemia, hypoalbuminemia, low albumin/globulin ratio, marked azotemia, hyperphosphatemia, mild hypocalcemia, hyperkalemia, and hyperamylasemia. T4 was within normal range. The urine had a cloudy appearance; 3+ proteinuria and 3+ hematuria were present on urinalysis.

Renal lymphoma in a 6 year old FS Labrador Retriever with gastrointestinal clinical signs
A 6-year-old female spayed Labrador Retriever dog was presented with upper gastrointestinal signs of 2 days’ duration. The patient was treated with antibiotics, gastroprotectants, and anti-emetics. Upper gastrointestinal signs continued despite the treatments, and the dog developed excessive panting and shaking. Blood chemistry revealed azotemia, hyperalbuminemia, and hyperphosphatemia. Functional adrenal adenoma and renal amyloidosis in a 9 year old FS Labrador Retriever
A 9 year old FS Labrador was presented for anorexia. Previous laboratory work had shown an inappropriate urine SG, 3+ proteinuria, microalbuminuria, azotemia, thrombocytosis, and negative 4Dx. The only significant abnormality on physical examination was dehydration. Baseline androstenedione and estradiol were elevated and ACTH stimulation revealed elevated cortisol, elevated estradiol, and elevated progesterone.

Mitral valve prolapse and moderate insufficiency in a 10 year old FS Maltese
A 10 year old female spayed Maltese was presented for excessive urination. The only significant abnormality on physical examination was a grade II/VI systolic heart murmur. On urinalysis, an inappropriate SG and 2+ proteinuria was present. CBC was within normal limits, but blood chemistry showed elevated ALT activity and azotemia. T4 was 1.2.

Chronic renal disease with infarction in a 7 year old MN DSH cat
A 7 year old neutered male DSH cat was presented with a history of azotemia, polyuria, polydypsia, and weight loss. Physical examination and blood pressure were both within normal limits. The only significant abnormality on urinalysis was a subnormal specific gravity. Abnormalities on blood chemistry included azotemia and hypercalcemia.

Neoplasia of epithelial origin diagnosed by abdominal fluid analysis in a 10 year old FS mixed breed dog.
A 10-year-old FS mixed breed dog was examined for anorexia and lethargy. Weight loss and muscle atrophy were noted on physical exam. Preoperative blood work revealed azotemia, hypoalbuminemia, and hyperglobulinemia. CBC found a low hematocrit, low RBCs, and a neutrophilia. PT and PTT were both within normal reference range.
