Cardiac Tumour?

– 11 yr old FS Affenpinscher x with elevated liver enzymes ALT 846, ALP 3277, GGT 146

– TP and albumin wnl, platelets high at 826, cbc otherwise normal

– liver is abnormal on ultrasound with cavitated regions, loss of normal echotexture and capsular distortion

– trace abdominal effusion, spleen, kidneys and everything else normal

– left ventricle shows a hyperechoic mass-like lesion coming from the posterior wall Could this be a tumour?

What do you think about the right atrium (tumour shot?)

What do you think about the right atrium (tumour shot?)

FNA’s of the liver are pending. Possible hemangiosarcoma?

    I think that is just a prominent papillary at an angle Jacquie. Still curvilinear for the most part and would be a very odd spot for an hsa. Nice “beer can in the hammock” shot of the rt auricle:)

  3. It does look very heart

    It does look very heart muscle-like. Unfortunately liver cytology is inconclusive on this one.

    Can’t say I see the beer 🙂

  5. Its a term we invented for

    Its a term we invented for the SDEP echo program we do when instructing on site. See position 3 int he cardiac progression poster where you hold the probe in your hand like a beer with the patient in right lateral, you approach the right auricle from the left side pressing down to collapse the lung (see image attached). I see a hammock re the right atrial base so we say beer and a hammock to find the heart mass if its there.
