Clinical Differential Diagnosis

Pancreatic disease – acute pancreatitis, neoplasia, cyst, abscess. Bile obstruction secondary to pancreatic disease.

DX

Non-septic pancreatitis

Sampling

FNA were performed without complication. Cytology of the pancreas revealed non septic, mixed inflammation.

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Post hepatic obstruction due to right pancreatic base pathology is evident. This is most consistent with pancreatic necrosis or potential carcinoma.

Image Interpretation

The right pancreatic limb was hypoechoic and enlarged with loss of detail and hyperechoic surrounding fat. The right pancreatic limb measured 2.07 cm and enveloped the common bile duct and duodenum.

Outcome

None
