Ferrets and their Gallbladders


Had a recent case:

  • 6yo MN Ferret
  • 3 days ADR, then acutely ill, icteric, bloody diarrhea
  • b/w pending
  • US revealed : GB sludge filled, thick walls; dilated cystic & CBD.
  • Dilated CBD to papilla
  • Other findings: ascites, hypoechoic lymph nodes; right adrenal mass

See below for stills/video of duopap & GB.  Has anyone seen this in a ferret?  If so, how common is it & has a bile obstruction been successfully treated?
